BILL TILLEY IN CAMP

During a recent camp, the Ord Minnet Sharks had the privilege of spending time with Bill Tilley, an Olympian from 1972 and Craig Miller, a two-time Olympian from 2000 and 2004. This unique opportunity allowed the team to connect with Australia's rich Water Polo history. Both Tilley and Miller generously shared their experiences of representing Australia at the Olympic level, fostering a stronger bond with the current squad. Water Polo Australia expressed gratitude, stating, "What an honour, thanks for your time Bill and Craig!"

Bill Tilley, a notable figure in Richmond and Australian Water Polo, proudly represented the nation at the Munich Olympics, showcasing his skills as a goalkeeper. His remarkable career includes being selected for the Australian touring team in 1967 and 1973, accumulating a total of 117 appearances for the national team. Serving as Victoria's goalkeeper from 1961-62 and 1965-73, Tilley left a lasting impact on the sport.

Greig "Spindles" Richardson a current Richmond Coach, fondly recalls Bill Tilley's influential role as a mentor during the early stages of his Water Polo career. Spindles remembers the first occasion when he successfully scored his first goal against Tilley in training, a moment made memorable by its infrequency.
