Registrations Now Open

Welcome to the 2020/21 Season! Water Polo Victoria (WPVic) is excited to announce that registrations are now open. We trust that you have been keeping safe during these extraordinary times of COVID-19 and ready to jump back into Water Polo.

To assist members register for the new season, WPVic and Water Polo Australia have implemented new membership categories. This will enable any existing or new member to register free of charge to be ready to participate in activities as soon as they become possible. Members are encouraged to registered as soon as possible to show interest in being part of the Sport during the upcoming season which will assist WPVic and Clubs start the planning process. Members will be invited to upgrade to a paid membership when details of regular competitions, training and other activities can be confirmed. There will however be no obligation to upgrade.

While current COVID-19 restrictions remain in place, competition and training schedules are unfortunately not able to be confirmed. WPVic however has been continually working with industry groups and government to advocate for the Reboot of Sport as soon as practical. While frustrated with the delay we are confident that positive progress has been made and hope for this to be reflected in upcoming announcements.

We anticipate at this stage for restrictions being eased to some degree within the next month. This will probably commence with training in regional areas and for the WPVAE Academy being permitted with limitations on participation numbers and pool capacity quotients. It is then envisaged for Community Sport non-contact training to be allowed during November, or October for non-metropolitan regions, when we enter Stage 3 of the Victorian COVID Roadmap. It is hoped that a modified competition format may be able to be introduced during December with the State League and other competitions and events to run in the New Year. Obviously at this stage everything remains dependent upon the lowering of community infection rates which it is encouraging to see are being lowered on a weekly basis.
