WATER POLO HISTORY
With the Matildas filling the MCG to capacity and the Stingers narrowly missing a bronze medal at the recent World Champs, Australian women's sports are proving to be not only entertaining but also a source of inspiration and empowerment for all of us.
These remarkable achievements made us wonder about the history of women's Water Polo in Victoria. An article in The Age indicates that plans for a Women's Water Polo competition were already in the works as far back as 1930.
Despite this journalists confidence that women would be capable of playing “the most strenuous of games” 🙄 we are happy to report that 90 years on the girls and women competition is as skilful, energetic and fun as ever.
