Our superstar left us yesterday morning - Kara is at peace and pain free at last.

As a family we cannot thank everyone enough for their support and love...

"We owe so much to our friends, each with their own story: those who have known us since we were children, those who joined the band along the way, those who we meet fleetingly but who still stay with us, those who somehow manage to keep us alight"

Kara our friend, we will always love you x.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Partner, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, beloved teammate and fierce Water Polo player, Kara was nothing short of an inspiration to everyone around her. Kara's challenge began when she received her Cervical Cancer diagnosis in 2019, a mother of two boys, Lachie (now 5) and Jimmy (now 3). Kara, Mike and her family were relentless in their search for life-saving treatment, undergoing numerous chemotherapy and radiation treatments, surgery and immunotherapy. Partner, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and beloved teammate, Kara was nothing short of an inspiration to everyone around her.

Kara began her Water Polo career with Richmond at age 12. This was followed by more than 15 years of competition with the club. Kara represented the Richmond Tigers at U14, U16, U18, U20 and State League 1, achieving championship wins at all levels.
The photo attached is the 2010 Women's State League 1 Champion Team, the girls won a tight final with only 9 players.
Many of Kara's Richmond teammates remain her closest friends today.

Kara represented Victoria in 2001 in the U14 Championships in Mullumbimby with many of her Richmond teammates. From there she was selected for the Victorian Team at all age levels. Kara was an inaugural member of the Victorian Tigers National League team and competed at several Institute Challenges.

She was an incredibly valued member of the Richmond Club and gave back over the years through coaching, mentoring and fundraising. Most recently Kara organised for Richmond merchandise to be sent to Rowie Webster and the Aussie Stingers to be signed. The money raised from the raffle and auction will support the purchase of new equipment in the coming season which we are so grateful for.

While many of you may have not known Kara personally we all benefit from what she contributed to our club over many years.

If you would like to show your support for Kara’s family at this time please go to colours4kara to make a donation, buy a raffle ticket or purchase some merchandise.
