PARENTS & FRIENDS WATER POLO BRIEFING

We are pleased to invite you to a briefing for parents and friends of RWPC led by Matt Lea – whilst getting to know each other over a beverage/nibbles! This will be the ultimate session of ask anything about Water Polo that you have ever wondered about including a guide to scoring, both book and the clock.

When: Sunday, 5 June 2022 4pm to 5pm at Caulfield Grammar School (dining area next to pool entrance)
What: Club will provide speaker, notes and nibbles
BYO: your questions and beverage (wine, beer, tea, coffee, water – totally up to you!)

Matt Lea is a parent at RWPC with a deep water polo CV. Matt has played for 30+ years (junior state and school rep teams and SL1). He has 20+ years coaching school, club, SL1 and state teams. Plus 20+ years refereeing – from SL1 through juniors including time as referees ’ director. Matt is a former Water Polo Victoria Board member.

During this session, Matt will help us better understand:

  • how clocks / tables / books / flags / hand signals work

  • field of play (6m, 5m, 2m lines)

  • basic rules / major / minor fouls

  • how referees ref (what they look for, where they look, how they can see things differently to players/spectators)

  • our obligations as parents and friends
