Richmond Water Polo sadly notes the passing of WPVic Life Member and long-time water polo supporter, Bill Comerford who died on Wednesday at the age of 92 after a battle with illness.

Bill was an amazing person for Water Polo who always put the best interests of the sport above other matters.  Originally with Reservoir Water Polo Club, he helped start FlippaBall at Greensborough pool and later at Hawthorn pool.

He was team manager for several Victorian rep teams which included many Richmond players and he always provided great support.

Bill was a great administrator for water polo and a great supporter of all junior sport and, more importantly, a truly great person.

After moving to Pt Lonsdale, Bill became very active in local sporting clubs and the community in general and played a key role in the redevelopment and upgrading of a number of sports facilities in the area.

In 2011, he was honoured with the OAM for his service to the community,

Richmond Water Polo extends our sympathy to Bill’s wife Peg and his family for their loss of a truly great man.
